05 Apr Fon Facts: Eleni
We’re a small but mighty team at Fon, a close-knit bunch and that loves what we do.
And when you step into the salon, we want you to feel welcome and part of our tribe. We also want you to know exactly who’s standing behind the chair and looking after your hair.
So allow us to introduce you to Fon Facts – a fun little series we’ve created so you can get to know us better!
Next up: our colour queen, Eleni.
Eleni came into our lives after a long, arduous search to find the next perfect member of the Fon Family.
Legend has it she “stalked” Alex from thousands of kilometres away, in Greece and boldly declared to the universe that she was going to come back to Australia and work for Fon.
Lucky for us, the universe was listening and sure enough, she flew back to Adelaide, met with Alex and the rest is hairy history!
Let’s have a chat with our little ray of sunshine…
How did you begin your career in hair?
I always knew I wanted to be in the arts. I wasn’t driven academically. I found paper and pen boring then.
A mentor/good friend suggested hair and beauty. I loved that it’s a lil’ of all the things I’m passionate about.
Hairdressing is so much more than using a pair of scissors. You’re an artist first and foremost, a counsellor, a cleaner, a personal assistant (to your lovely boss) a DJ, an entertainer… the list goes on!
I’m able to express creativity in colour palettes & styling amazing clients every day.
What’s your hairy super power?
Colour. Blow waves. Bangs.
Claim to fame/career highlight?
My career highlight has been meeting such different individuals from all over the world, from all walks of life and hearing their stories along the way.
How often do you wash your hair?
When my side part look starts to look like Slick Rick (without any product) it’s time for a wash!
What product/tool can you not live without?
The Davines ‘This Is An Invisible No Gas Spray’ hairspray for styling is the bee’s knees. In the colour department the new ‘Century of Light’ range has been a game changer.
Who’s your Hair Idol?
Professionally, Liz Haven is really inspiring my execution of colour right now.
What do you love most about being part of the Fon crew?
To be in a clean, organised and industrial inspired studio space that is continuously growing with some good tunes playing. I’m content and inspired daily.
Where can we find you when you’re not in the salon?
Reading on my balcony with a glass of wine or practicing to ride my sunflower yellow bicycle. No wine before riding though!
Fave shopping destination?
Little side streets of Greece and markets in Spain. Can’t beat it!
Dream celebrity client?
Don’t really mind if they’re a celebrity or not. Just anyone passionate about their thing. I love being inspired by other creatives.
