05 Apr How your hair changes after pregnancy
One of the most commonly asked questions we get from our beautiful mamas-to-be is:
“How will my hair change after pregnancy?”
Hair loss and scalp oiliness are usually our first telltale signs after you’ve had a baby – so please don’t stress! Because stress actually makes your hair fall out even more.
{Oh no… you’re stressing now, aren’t you? STOP! Please, lovely – stop stressing!}
We have amazing products to reverse both of these issues, like the miraculous Davines NaturalTech Energising Superactive range or the Replumping Shampoo or Superactive Hair Filler.
These superhero products help to regenerate new hair follicles and promote a healthy scalp, which encourages hair to grow in length, thicken in density and produce individually stronger hairs.
Sometimes, no matter how religiously you shampoo after pregnancy, it just goes back to oily roots and unruly dehydrated ends.
We recommend our favourite Rebalancing Shampoo to cleanse the scalp once or twice a week in between your regular shampoo. By “regular” we actually mean something that is backing up that cleansing shampoo with light hydration, such as MELU Shampoo and Conditioner. (They look so pretty sitting together in the shower too!)
Sometimes we find our new mamas in the salon have found the texture of their hair has changed as well.
Those curls aren’t quite bouncing how they used to or the beautiful long carpet of hair that sat straight and sleek is now kinking in places it never did before. If this has happened to you, have a chat to us and ask for a little extra something to help you maintain your style once you’ve left the salon.
For those who find a few waves and unruly texture, we have a treatment that is super special.
Keratin Treatments help to repair the cuticle of the hair with zero damage, last up to 6 months and help you to smooth over or spring up that curl, all the while looking shiny and hydrated.
So don’t stress {honestly, please stop!} – we got you and your hair, mama.

“It is my considered opinion that the hairdresser is the most influential person in any community. When the public goes to a hairdresser, something happens to them. They feel safe, they relax. The hairdresser knows what their skin is like under the makeup, they know their age, they don’t have to keep up any kind of pretense. People tell a hairdresser things they wouldn’t dare confess to a priest and they are open about matters they’d try to conceal from a doctor. When people place their secret lives in the hairdresser’s hands, the hairdresser gains an authority few other people attain. I have heard hairdressers quoted with complete conviction on art, literature, politics, economics, child care and morals. I tell you that a clever, thoughtful, ambitious hairdresser wields a power beyond comprehension of most people.” A novel by John Steinbeck.
